Mark Your Diaries for BOISW – 23-26 Jan 2018

The 16th edition of New Zealand’s biggest and “best” sailing regatta will take place over the week of Tuesday 23rd to Friday 26th January. Mark your diaries – the highlight of the sailing calendar is set to be another superb event both on and off the water.

This year we said goodbye to some very valued contributors, who have decided after many years of service that it’s time to move on from BOISW. As many of you know, the time and energy they have put in over the years has been invaluable in making this much-loved regatta the success that it is today.

The outgoing committee members (L-R: John Grant, Lesley Haslar, David Hope-Lewis and Ray Haslar) were celebrated at the recent AGM, where they were presented with trophies thanking them for their contributions.

In their place, the committee welcomed Manuela Gmuer Hornell as its new Chairperson. Manuela is well known to many in the sailing community here and overseas, and has a wealth of knowledge and experience, as well as a truckload of enthusiasm, to bring to the job.

Notice of Race is published and ENTRIES ARE NOW OPEN for the 2018 Bay of Islands Sailing Week regatta.

We’re committed to keeping entry fees as low as possible to encourage participation at all levels, so entry fees for the 2018 regatta are the same as they were last year. Remember you can save even more by entering early – the last date for entries is 31 December 2017, and entries on or after 1 January 2018 will incur a $75 late entry fee.

Get In Quick for Berths & Beds!

It’s only September and Bay Week is already a hot topic around the marina in Opua. Bay of Islands Marina has gone through a major transformation over the winter, with the new 160-berth extension now complete. New shorebased facilities, boardwalks and grassed areas are also nearing completion.

The marina has already taken bookings from some well-organised teams, and with so many boats coming to Bay Week from far and wide, berths fill up fast, so it’s always best to get in early. Contact Jane on 09 402 7124 or enquiries@opuamarina.co.nz.
