Bay of Islands Sailing Week Sponsorship Opportunities! Support NZ’s premiere multi-boat regatta

It’s fun, and competitive, and delivers a true spectacle of sailing every year in the picturesque Bay of Islands. Why wouldn’t you want to get behind Bay of Islands Sailing Week?! 

As coined by Peter Montgomery as “the best big-boat regatta in NZ”, BOISW has grown to reflect the countries’ renowned status as a sailing nation and organisers are asking for support to continue its success.  

BOISW organisers say it’s more important than ever to retain the event’s reputation as a highly anticipated fixture of New Zealand’s yachting calendar.

“We’re so grateful for the support of our sponsors over the years with the continued support from North Sails, Explore, Bay of Islands Marina, Gurit and others. We realise it’s a tough economic world out there right now, and more than ever there’s huge value for our marine businesses to align with this event. We believe BOISW offers a unique platform and perfect location for networking opportunities, business exposure and ultimately the chance to connect with the industry at a time where the business pace may have slowed,” says BOISW Sponsorship Manager Rob White. 

Bay of Islands Sailing Week stages a three-day event in the height of summer and attracts a swathe of NZ and international sailors, while boosting business for local tourism operators, accommodation and retailers. 

“There’s a real buzz in the community when sail week is on. Hundreds of sailors and their families and support crews come to participate in the event, and enjoy this idyllic destination before, during and after the regatta,” he says.

With different sponsorship packages and support options available, White is encouraging any interested businesses, parties, or individuals to explore possibilities for 2025 and beyond.  

“From stories through our online platforms to exposure in the event marketing and communications, we are always happy to look into ways to promote your business while supporting this event,” he says. 

The regatta has grown from 39 boats competing in the first edition in 2003 to over 100 in 2024 and organisers pride themselves on delivering a high-quality, professionally run event while encouraging participation from all levels of experience. 

“Whether you’re a newly put together sports boat team, or a TP52 crew who’ve been together for a while. Or if you just want to cruise around the islands but be part of the action, or if you’re in open racing to win. The formula has developed over the years and we think it’s important to continue so we cater for all,” says White. 

Sponsorship opportunities range from Event Title Sponsorship to race day or division sponsorship, to spot prizes. All levels of support and ideas are welcome to be discussed.
