North Sails Weather Forecast – Thursday 23 January

UPDATE 0800hrs

THU 23 8am

SITUATION
High pressure remains close by to the North Island – just to the north with a rather soft SW-S flow over Northland.
Very little chance over the last couple of days and varying little through to tomorrow and the end of the regatta.

In Auckland, the west and east coasts are rather close – so the dominant afternoon SW-S breeze gets across to the City and East Coast Bays during the afternoon. Nut for Northland and the BOI – the 2 coasts are further apart and hence the west coast breeze does not get across until quite late.

TODAY
A slightly better offshore SW/6-8 kt flow this morning. That will soften as the temperature climbs this morning
Similar trend to yesterday – soft mid to late morning and then it should fill NNW-N by midday with max breeze mid afternoon but persist well into the evening before back the swing to the S.
Mix of cloud and sun
