One Week To Go – Here’s All The Essential Info You Need

Fasten your seatbelts, stow your tray tables and get ready for takeoff – CRC Bay of Islands Sailing Week is just one week away!

Even if you sail with us regularly, please pay attention to the following important messages. And don’t hesitate to contact a member of the crew if you have any questions.

Where to find us

The North Sails & Explore Marquee will be outside the Opua Cruising Club, at the bottom of Franklin Street in Opua – same as last year. Join us for food, drinks and entertainment each evening.

Food & Drink

FOOD: meals and snacks served inside the Opua Cruising Club. Dine in the club or bring your plate outside to the marquee.

BAR TICKETS: No cash bar – please purchase tickets which can be used for both drinks and food. $6 a ticket. Purchase at the Eftpos kiosk. Stock up early and avoid the queues.

Schedule of Events

Registration – Tue 22 Jan

REGISTRATION – 4-6pmat the North Sails & Explore Marquee from 4pm-6pm. Collect your Sailing Instructions and division flag there.

LATE ENTRIES will be accepted right up until the end of Registration, if you haven’t already entered.

Race Days – Wed 23 to Fri 25 Jan

• BREAKFAST & COFFEE available from the Opua Store from 6.30am, or Marina Cafe from 8am.
• WEATHER report by North Sails will be available each morning – check Facebookif you’re already on the water.
• RACING starts at 10.30am and finishes around 4pm.
• DRINKS served at the bar and Mount Gay Rum Bar in the North Sails & Explore Marquee from 4pm.
• DINNER served in the Opua Cruising Club from 4pm.

Wed 23 Jan: YNZ Women in Sailing Focus Group

Female sailors of all ages – please join Yachting New Zealand at 36 Degrees Brokers (next to the Opua Store), 5.30pm on Wednesday, for a friendly get-together. Your input will help us better understand how to attract and keep more females in the sport of sailing.

Thu 24 Jan: Explore Otehei Bay Beach Party

It’s the night you’ve all been waiting for – the Explore Beach Party at Otehei Bay, with live music from Furious3. If you haven’t already, book your ferry tickets NOW!

Fri 25 Jan: Prizegiving Ceremony

Winners are grinners! Prizegiving is scheduled to take place from around 7:00pm on Friday – but please bear with us as start time is dependent on processing of all results and trophy engraving.

Sat 26 Jan: Kawau Rally

Heading back to Auckland? Join in a fun and friendly Rally to Kawau on Saturday morning. Start gun at 10:00am from the Opua Cruising Club start line. Sail to Bon Accord Harbour for breakfast at the Kawau Boating Club on Sunday morning.

Crew Wanted/Available

Looking for a spot or need an extra pair of hands? Check out the Crew Wanted and Available lists. It would be great to get everyone who wants to sail out on the water.

Marina Office

North Sails – Sail Repairs

Don’t let a damaged sail ruin your regatta! North Sails will run a service loft at the regatta to repair sails from any manufacturer. Contact Roger Hall at North Sails BOI.
